Omaha-The Nebraska Beef Company has expanded its meat recall to nearly 1.4 million pounds.
This new amount includes nearly 160,000 pounds of meat that was inadvertently left out of the announcement last week. The Omaha beef company has been linked to an outbreak of E. Coli that has struck at least 10 states and Canada.
The first announcement was for 1.2 million pounds of prime cuts of beef, hamburger as well as different boxed beef that was sold on June 17th, June 24th and July 8th.The department of Agriculture announced that the recall notice includes Nebraska Beef establishment numbers 19336 and the company name.
Most of the meat has been sold and possibly consumed, but it has announced the recall to try and prevent the further infection of anyone else with the E. coli virus.
Many people have been stricken and came down with E. Coli, but there have not been any reported deaths, despite many people being stricken with the virus.Nausea, diarrhea, and signs similar to food poisoning have been reported, but so far no one has been killed by the virus. The beef recall continues until all the meat has been accounted for.
